Rock Monster

Sorry for the lack of posts through out December. The last month was a little crazy with a bunch of random stuff piling on top of each other. But its time to share some new work! This year I am working towards building a portfolio and finding a position at either a gaming or animation studio. And that calls for some pre-production art, which I haven't done in a while since I was focusing on book illustration. Though I have been focusing on book illustration, I have decided to shift to exploring Pre-production art to help me achieve my goals of having a creative job.

To start out my new portfolio, I have an elemental rock creature that I redesigned from an old concept piece. It was fun to push the shapes of the rock forms and use a different color technique that I used years ago.

Over all, I am happy with the design and looking forward to pushing myself both in concept and design in the next year.

Exploring Fablewood-May 9, 2016

The past week has been busy between my day job, getting ready for Free Comic Book day, and venturing to The Comic Book Shop in Wilmington DE on Saturday. I didn't have a chance to work on any Fablewood related drawings or sketches. So I've decided to share a page from Songs of Fablewood, which will soon be available in my online shop I'm setting up.

King ThunderbEard

Recently I have started reading 'War of the Dwarves' by Markus Heitz, the second in the series of Dwarves. Inspired by the books I drew a portrait of a Dwarf King. It started out as a small sketch after reading one night, got lost under a pile of paper, then reemerged a few weeks later to become a finished drawing.

The design was inspired by a drawing I did a few years back of a dwarf Lord Thunderbeard. No longer of Lord, now a king

Garthok, orc rogue from Critical Role

There's always stack of sketches and drawings on the corner of my drafting table waiting to be finished. The other day I pulled a drawing out of the stack to finish after I got home from work.

Garthok is a half-orc rogue, member of the Clasp, and aided Vox Machina after the dragon attack in Emon. He appeared in one epsiode of Critical Role and wasn't a major character but I liked the idea of an orc rogue. Here's the small graphite portrait.
